Basset Hound: Character
Basset Hound is by nature a real aristocrat, full of dignity. This impression is reinforced by a noble head, long ears and intelligent eyes, reflecting all the sorrow of this imperfect world.
Basset Hound is remarkably taking root in the city, although it has not lost its hunting features: endurance, the ability to pursue, perseverance and a great scent.
The middle name of the breed is Kindness. With a capital letter. This is an affectionate, gentle, calm dog. Compliant, friendly, sociable. It gets along with all members of the family, including young children and other animals.
Basset Hound is curious, but if left alone, he will sleep and eat. She likes to watch during walks - everything in a row. Contemplation is given wholly and completely, so much so that the owner (and his team) ceases to exist.
Basset Hounds are brave and cheerful.
However, in the character of the basset hound there are also disadvantages. Stubbornness, alas, is fraught with difficulties in training. And on a walk, the Basset Hound will walk with you, rather than you. In addition, this dog is able to get carried away and go on an adventure - alone. Therefore, be vigilant.
Despite the calm and slowness, the basset hound still needs regular long walks. The makings of a hunter did not disappear, they were not even destroyed by the love of these dogs for comfort.
These dogs have a thick, loud and bass voice. Moreover, for barking (as well as howling), a special reason is not necessary. Therefore, neighbors can be very unhappy.
The best host for a basset hound is a determined, but at the same time calm and patient person. If you gently and persistently train your dog, you can get an almost perfect companion.
Sensitivity and a high level of intelligence allow representatives of the breed to capture the mood of family members and adjust their behavior to it. They are able to "read" even facial expressions, unmistakably understanding what is expected of them. However, he will not always obey - only if he wants to.
Basset hound and children
Basset Hound is a very flexible, sociable and character-friendly dog. He perfectly finds a common language with children, even with small ones. But this is true only for a well-bred, trained dog.
The child must know the rules for communicating with a four-legged friend. Basic: do not disturb the dog in its place, do not interfere during sleep and food, do not pursue if the dog decided to retire.
And, no matter how confident you are in the pet, you should not leave a small child and a dog unattended.
