Education and training of the American Cocker Spaniel
Training of the American Cocker Spaniel begins on the first day a dog appears in your house. If you decide to have a puppy spaniel, then you should prepare for the fact that you will have to deal with it for a long time and hard. You need to monitor his behavior, teach teams, etc. Initially, the dog must obey its owner, perceive him as a leader and best friend.

First you need to pick up a dog sounding nickname and in no case associate it with the team "To me." The nickname serves as a signal of "Attention", so you need to first contact the dog, and only then give a command.
In the house of the puppy of the American Cocker Spaniel, there must be a specially designated place, located away from the passage and closed from direct sunlight. One of the first teams to train an American cocker spaniel is Place. It is very important to choose the moments when the puppy has walked up, tired or ate. In cold weather, you can put a warm heating pad under the litter, and a tired puppy will lie comfortably in place. It is enough to repeat several times and the dog will know exactly where its place is.
An important team for the spaniel is the team "Not." You can begin to learn it by the bowl. When it comes time to give food, you need to pour food into a bowl, call a dog, take a bowl with one hand, and hold the pet with the other and sharply say “You can’t”.Kids are kept for 5 - 7 seconds, adults can be longer. Then gently say “Take” and release the doggie to the bowl. The prohibiting command can be given not only before a meal, but also in other cases when it is necessary to prevent some unwanted action of the dog.
The Sit command is pretty easy to learn. You need to call the spaniel to yourself, take some goodies, raise one hand high up and say “Sit,” with the other hand press slightly on the croup, forcing the dog to sit down. Every right action is encouraged by a treat.
When training an American Cocker Spaniel, you should adhere to two of the most important rules: taking into account the nature of the dog and no physical violence. The puppy is trained only in the game. You need to be patient and maintain endurance. Encouragement, both verbal and in the form of goodies or games, is a good incentive for the dog.
Even if the training of the American Cocker Spaniel is general, it is recommended to keep a diary. It contains information about the behavior of the pet and the trainer himself, about the peculiarities of the environment (noise, strangers, animals, weather conditions, etc.) and everything that will help in the future to analyze how successfully the training process is going, track successes and find mistakes.
The most effective training takes place in the fresh air, but here there is a difficulty associated with the instincts of the cocker to pursue and run away. You should not only forget about these instincts and unconditioned reflexes, but they are recommended to be actively used - for example, when searching for hidden objects or aporting.
Incorrect training of the American Cocker Spaniel or lack of education at all can lead to the fact that the pet will try to take a dominant position in the house and exhibit destructive behavior. It is unlikely that you will be pleased.
Give your dog as much attention and diligence as possible, and you can find a true faithful friend.
