Help for abandoned Dobermans and volunteer path
In connection with the new wave of popularity of Doberman dogs, not just a wave swept across Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, but a whole tsunami of refuseniks of this breed. Well, people do not understand that behind a beautiful appearance and grace lies a very active dog, requiring tremendous work and a huge investment.
Volunteers of all countries are sounding the alarm! After all, if you used to throw mostly adult Dobermans, now the age of refuseniks begins already from 5-6-7 months! It is really very sad and scary. People do not realize that a puppy is a small child, not an ivy toy. It’s sad when breeders don’t take back puppies that they once sold, it’s sad when owners of pedigrees cannot help the Doberman in trouble even with the dissemination of information. It is scary when people who have played enough or failed, throw the dog out on the street, or lead him to euthanize.
Human indifference no longer drives into a stupor, and the phrase “it would be better if they helped people” or “sorry for the belly, but you can’t save everyone” from people who never even tried to help anyone, is already quite familiar. These are terrifying realities of the modern world, and they concern not only our breed, but all animals in general.
But good people who are ready to save, cure and find a new home, also meet on the way of the awl and the bobtail. In Russia there is a wonderful DoberHelp help team for Dobermans. Her ideological inspirer and organizer is Valentina Zaporova. This is a wonderful person who loves dogs with all his heart. She organized a team to help the breed at the end of September 2013, and still successfully and with all her heart helps not only Dobermans who are in trouble in Russia, but also refuseniks in neighboring countries. It was in DoberHelp that my ward, Doberman Archie, left.
The story of Archik is very sad, his life did not spoil him at all. He was found a teenager on the outskirts of a village in a state of a skeleton covered with leather. Sheltered, warmed, fed, it seems that this is the beginning of a happy life. Only now people were inexperienced, lazy and loving a good drink. As soon as Archie got stronger and gained weight, he became very active and choleric, like any Doberman. With him it was necessary to go to the dog handler, and spend a lot of time. The people who sheltered him had neither desire nor opportunity; therefore, they considered beating the best method of education. The dog endured for a long time and was afraid, until during the next beating with fear he did not bite the offender by the hand. He immediately realized that the man was frightened of him, and the best defense against such education at Archie was an attack. So he found himself on Gursky.
I saw him even before the cage, I went to assess the situation in the family and help as a dog handler, but the owners missed all my words, and decided not to get in touch anymore. The dog was bewildered and wary, it was scary to go to his cage. But taking myself in hand and taking a breath, I opened the door and went in. So that it was not so scary, and for safety, a volunteer girl helped me. Anyone who has ever visited the dogs on Gursky knows that if there is hell on earth, then he is there.Having hooked Archik on a leash, we went out with him for a walk. The dog was adequate, just not raised. He did not try to devour us and did not even show his teeth, although he sometimes barked terribly. Then there was a collection of money, kilometers of nerves, paper and a long night to Moscow, because in our country there was no way to save and re-educate such a Doberman.
Now Archie lives in Moscow, in the DoberHelp help team for Dobermans. It was his lucky ticket, and the only chance for a happy life that he deserved so much, because in our country there are no such teams and specialists, and volunteers are not always enough. I, too, could not leave him, because I already had two Dobermans at home, and it would not be easy for me to cope with all alone.
Now his behavior has become much better, he already pulls the leash much less, and happily plays toys. By the way, for all this time Archie has never tried to bite anyone. Thanks to the team for their efforts and efforts put into this dog. Together with the country, Archie changed his name, now his name is Arnie. You can get to know him in Moscow, in the DoberHelp team. He is still looking for his very best people.
In the meantime, a pregnant Dobermansh came to my overexposure, who was found on the street and handed over to the tomb. The girl stood for 5 days in anticipation of the old master, but no one came. Everyone who wanted to pick her up, after they found out that she was in a position and was ill, immediately disappeared. I made a decision to give the baby a chance and take her to overexposure and curating, because I could not sleep well. Now in my house there are three Dobermans, and I would not refuse help very much. Help with money for visiting a veterinarian and treating a dog, subsequent sterilization, food, medicine, supplies is very relevant. After all, only after that she will be able to look for a new home and people who love her. Let's save her together!
