The trust of the dog to the owner. All about dog psychology on wikipet!
Each interaction with the owner teaches the dog something. Including mistrust - or mistrust.
For example, if you praise a dog, you teach it to trust you. If you punish, you cause negative emotions, which in large quantities destroy the contact.
Of course, the dog can endure some negative emotions and not lose confidence in the owner, but when the limit comes, no one knows. Sometimes a pet instantly loses confidence when the owner, for example, yells at him or pulls the leash.
And to restore the dog’s lost confidence in the owner, it can take a very long time. Or the dog will remain incredulous until the end of his life.
Predictability is also important. Attachment is enhanced by predictability, and the owner’s unpredictability destroys this attachment. Trust is formed through attachment. However, even attachment does not guarantee the dog’s confidence in the owner. Confidence is formed gradually when the pet is convinced by experience: this person acts in my interests. But lack of trust can lead to the destruction of attachment.
Also, the dog’s confidence in the owner may disappear if a person deceives a pet. For example, studies were conducted during which a curious thing was found out. If a person shows food or ball, the dog will run there. However, he will not understand several times, he will understand: you should not trust a person. And, having accumulated certain knowledge of the owner, the dogs decide whether to trust him. At the same time, they can begin to trust a new person with whom they do not yet have a negative experience of interaction.
